Kodeeri Mana
Kodeeri Mana is a Naalukettu, (traditional home with central courtyard) which is about 350 years old and belonged to the descendants of a family of royal warriors until we bought the estate in 2000. The house is completely made of locally available materials such as laterite stone in mud mortar for walls, terracotta tiles for floor, wood for doors, windows and ceilings, clay tiles for roof. Interestingly, the architectural design permits maximum air circulation, which is inevitable for humid climate and the choice of construction material not only is strong and sustainable under humid conditions but also offers utmost comfort.
We have three well-ventilated non-A/C double rooms which can accommodate a maximum number of 6 guests at a time. There is a common living room and open veranda for the use of guests. Services such as internet, phone and laundry are available for additional cost.
There is also a tree house at the edge of the paddy field where one can blissfully enjoy solitude among swaying palm and mango trees, and relax watching birds and butterflies, read, write and/or meditate.
Food is vegetarian, mostly based on products grown organically at KNH, and cooked in traditional Kerala Style. We have no room service. We usually encourage visitors to eat with the family. Sometimes guests eat their lunch on the tree hose
